These changes have made the Ozone Catalyst much more user-friendly, making it the ideal kite for beginners learning to kitesurf. The new Ozone Catalyst V3 features easy depower, a wide wind range, and quick relaunch. One of the first things you’ll notice about the new Ozone Catalyst V3 is that it has become a one-strut kite, rather than a three-strut kite. This means that the Catalyst V3 is lighter in weight and has a friendlier character. Another advantage is the greater wind range due to the lighter weight. Despite being a one-strut kite, the Catalyst V3 still has easy relaunch, which is always useful for beginners. The true Ozone enthusiast will notice that the design is very similar to the Ozone Alpha. This is correct. However, the Catalyst V3 is made of stronger materials. The leading edge is reinforced at multiple points and the Catalyst is made of triple ripstop fabric, unlike the Alpha, which is double ripstop. This makes the Catalyst much stronger and better suited for use as a beginner kite compared to the Ozone Alpha. One of the great things about the Catalyst V3 is that it is easy to ride upwind due to its position in the wind window, which is especially useful for beginners. Even as you improve your kitesurfing skills, you will still find the Ozone Catalyst V3 to be a great kite.
